Tanzania is a member of EAC and is implementing the EAC
Customs Union Protocol that includes an implementation framework such as
the EAC Common External Tariff and the revised EAC Customs Management Act R.E 2019. Tanzania is also part of the SADC that gives her rights
to import and export local produce at free except for some countries of SADC.
For the rest of the World (countries that are not members of EAC and SADC),
Tanzania applies agreements signed under the WTO multilateral trading system.
Important to note is also unilateral trade arrangements
which accord preferential treatment to some export products from Tanzania like
the African Growth and Opportunity Act (AGOA) which allow qualifying products
from Tanzania to access the American
market at duty free and quotes free.
