Business Licence is a legal document issued by government agencies that grants the user the right to operate any form of trade, commerce, craftsmanship or specified profession carried on for profit or gain (business) within government's geographical jurisdiction.
Exporters of food crops (except perishables) must have permit from the Cereals and Other Produce Regulatory Authority which is valid for two months and issued per consignment.
Certificates of origin confirm that goods in a particular export consignment have been produced, manufactured or processed in a particular country. The Tanzania Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture (TCCIA) issues certificates of origin for exported products which are originated in Tanzania. They are categorized into; preferential and non - preferential and are issued per consignment.
A preferential certificate of origin is an export document issued by the Tanzania Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture (TCCIA) for export where trade agreements have been entered into with Tanzania and other regions such as East African Community (EAC), European Union (EU) African Growth and Opportunity (AGOA) or Generalised System of Preference (GSP). A non preferential certificate of origin is an export document issued by Tanzania Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture that confirms that the country of origin of goods exported.
For the products destined to the EU Market the trader need to register REX System under Tanzania Revenue Authority (TRA).
The Non preferential certificate of origin is required for goods obtained, manufactured, produced or processed in Tanzania, and are to be exported to any country with no mutual agreement on trade. The certificate is issued per consignment.
The AfCFTA certificate of origin is an international trade document which certifies that a certain product being exported is wholly manufactured, produced, processed or obtained from the exporting country. The Generalized System of Preferences (GSP) certificate of origin is a voluntary trade measure implemented by developed countries that provide preferential tariff treatment to import from developing countries. The certificate is issued per consignment.
The Tanzania Plant Health and Pesticides Authority issues a phytosanitary certificate which certifies that plant and plant products are free from regulated pests and conforms with other phytosanitary requirements of the importing country. The certificate is valid per consignment.
This procedure sequentially compiles the licences, permits and clearance steps to be fulfilled by a registered business owner exporting a consignment of avocados for the first time out of Tanzania, via Namanga OSBP to the EU.
